This week there was a very significant announcement from the Business Roundtable (made up of representation from the nations largest companies) that American Corporations are going to be less accountable to shareholders and start looking at the bigger picture of employee, customer and societal interests. In the past 20-30 years it has been the case that the largest corporations have become more beholden to shareholder pressure. This change will make American corporations better citizens and should prove healthier for myriad ways that these corporations impact society outside of their bottom line.
