How to Mend a Seam
By Grow and Make Contributing Editor Kristina Strain
Materials Needed:
Sewing machine, or hand sewing needle
Matching thread
Pins
Time required:
Five minutes
First, turn your article of clothing inside out, and find the unraveled seam. If desired, pin along the unraveled part to hold it in place.
Using either a sewing machine or a hand-sewing needle, sew down the loose edge right along where the seam used to be. Make sure to back-tack at both ends of your sewing, picking up the unraveled ends of the old seam. If you're using a hand-sewing needle, it's best to take very small stitches. If the seam is one that gets a lot of stress, it might even be a good idea to sew over it twice.
That's all folks! Trim the ends and turn it right side out.
