Q: Why is the Goodbyn lunchbox made out of plastic?
A: The Goodbyn lunchbox is made out of plastic to keep your lunch safe, sealed, and unharmed in its journey to work or school. The hard plastic shell ensures that even food returning from school or work will come back in one piece! We use virgin plastics to comply with the FDA for food contact and children's safety requirements (most post-consumer recycled plastics are not FDA approved). In the future, we hope to use 100% recycled plastic as our base material for all of our products, and are working hard at finding a single-source plastics recycler to do just that!
Q: Is the plastic of the Goodbyn lunchbox safe?
A: Your Goodbyn lunchbox is made from recyclable food-safe plastics: #5 polypropylene (lunchbox and bottle lid) and #2 high-density polyethylene (bottle). They are approved by the FDA, are the most benign of all plastics on the market, and are lead, BPA and phthalate-free.The Goodbyn lunchbox also meets CPSIA testing standards:
Testing documents for blue Goodbyns.
Testing documents for pink Goodbyns.
Testing documents for green Goodbyns.
Testing documents for blue Goodbyns.
Q: Is Goodbyn lunchbox microwaveable?
A: While Goodbyn lunchbox's plastic is stable enough to place in a microwave, most research shows that heating plastic is not a safe practice, no matter what kind of plastic. At Byndoo, we do not endorse heating the Goodbyn lunchbox in a microwave. If you are interested in ways to pack a microwave-free lunch, please see our lunch planning section.
Q: What do I do with the Goodbyn lunchbox after I am through with it?
A: If you wish to part with your Goodbyn lunchbox for any reason, you’ll be happy to hear that your Goodbyn lunchbox is completely recyclable. All of the pieces are made of #5 polypropylene and #2 high-density polyethylene, and can be placed in your regular recycling container.
Q: Can I put soups in my Goodbyn lunchbox?
A: No. While the Goodbyn does a good job of transporting left-overs, hummus, dip and thick sauces, we don't recommend sending soups in it, it might seep out.
Q: Where does my Goodbyn lunchbox come from?
A: We are proud to tell you the Goodbyn is an all-American lunchbox. The Goodbyn lunchbox was conceived in Chicago and Seattle, born in Michigan, and is packaged and distributed from Washington state. If you would like to learn more about how the Goodbyn lunchbox came to be, go to our "how we did it" section.
Q: What age is the Goodbyn lunchbox intended for??
A: Not to limit ourselves because we think Goodbyn is great for everyone, but we originally set out to design a lunchbox for grades K-4. We realize that all kids are different, and some may need more help opening and closing their Goodbyns than others. We are definitely busy developing products for all age groups!
Q: What are the best ways to pack a Goodbyn
A: The Goodbyn is ideal for sandwiches, leftovers, fruits, veggies, snacks and treats. The drink bottle is excellent for liquids like milk, water, juice or even salad dressing or a smoothie. The Goodbyn seals tightly, but we do not suggest placing thin liquids in the larger compartments.
Q: Can I replace the Goodbyn lunchbox’s drink bottle?
A: We will be selling individual drink bottles soon!
Q: Can I order more stickers?
A: New sticker sets are currently in development! If you have a good idea for new sticker sets, please share them with us, and maybe we will produce them!
Q: Can I replace the lid/bottom without buying a whole new Goodbyn lunchbox?
A: Unfortunately, the Goodbyn lunchbox is sold as a complete set. Take advantage and mix and match your favorite colors!
Q: Can I wash the Goodbyn lunchbox in the dishwasher?
A: Yes. Goodbyn lunchbox is dishwasher-safe (140°F).
Q: Can I return my Goodbyn lunchbox if I don’t like it?
A: If you are unsatisfied with your Goodbyn lunchbox, send us an email at customerservice@goodbyn.com. You can expect a refund to your credit card within 7 to 14 days of our receiving your return. For shipping costs associated with the return of a defective product(s), Goodbyn will be responsible. If you wish to exchange a product you will need to return the undesired product for a full refund and make your new purchases at www.goodbyn.com.
