The Enphase Envoy Communications Gateway is a wall mounted unit that enables microinverters to convey performance information of every module to the Enlighten website. The EMU can be plugged into any standard AC outlet. Enphase microinverters convey performance information over the existing power line. No additional wiring is required. Installation is as simple as plugging the Ethernet cable of the EMU into your broadband router. Performance data is transmitted using broadband Ethernet protocols for immediate access to performance information.
The Envoy Energy Management Unit is bundled with a 90-day trial subscription to Enlighten. Thereafter subscriptions can be purchased at $2/micro-inverter per year, or $9/micro-inverter for a 5-year subscription.

For systems larger than 180 micro-inverters or 34 kW, more than one Envoy is required. When multiple Envoy gateways are required, a Line Communications Filter is also required, to prevent communications data from one communications domain from cross-talking to another.
