What You Need to Know

Things you should know when making candles:
One Flutter Dye™ per pound of wax will give you a medium shade candle, half a Flutter Dye™ will make your color lighter, and 2 Flutter Dyes™ will make your candle darker.

1 oz fragrance oil should be used per 8 lbs of wax, which can be altered depending on your desired strength. Be sure you are using fragrance oils designed specifically for candle making, such as the fragrance oils for sale here and included in our kits.

Wax has a flash point usually between 290-380 degrees and may burst into flames once it reaches that point. Always be safe and use a thermometer when melting wax. Melted wax should be between 170-180 degrees for candle making. Children should NOT be left unsupervised when making candles.

Soy candles are at least 90% cleaner burning than their petroleum counterparts, and because they burn at a cooler temperature than paraffin, soy candles will generally burn 25-50% longer.

Our growandmake.com Candle Making Kits come with a Candle Making Guide that has complete instructions and additional tips.
